Confidentiality
Providing a Confidential Service
As a service we understand the importance of keeping your information secure and confidential. We provide a confidential service to everyone, regardless of age, attending our Sexual Health Clinics. If you’re aged 13 – 15 you have the same rights to confidentiality as an adult.
This means that we will not pass any of the information on that you tell us (including parents, teachers or GP) without your permission. It can sometimes be useful to share this information with your G.P or parents so we may encourage you to do so but we won’t make you.
There may be certain situations where we feel that we need to pass on the information you tell us to another professional. This would only be if we had serious concerns about your safety or welfare. In usual circumstances we would aim to discuss this with you before passing this on.
Consent to Make Contact
As a service, our policy is if you give us your phone number, it is taken as consent for us to contact you. If you do not wish to be contacted by telephone please do not give us your number. We will, however, need an alternative means of making contact with you, such as a postal address. If you are unable to supply any contact information, please be aware that the responsibility for obtaining results will lie with you. This will require a visit to the service on person in order to receive them.
Please ask any of our staff if you would like to ask any questions about this and we’d be happy to discuss further.
