Pubic lice
Pubic lice (‘crabs’) are caught by close physical or sexual contact with someone who has them.
There’s not enough evidence to say if pubic lice can be transferred through items such as bedding or towels, but some experts think that it might be possible.
They are usually found in pubic hair they can also live in armpits, beards and even eyebrows and eyelashes. They may cause itching or you may see tiny specks of blood, lice or eggs on the hairs.
Pubic lice can usually be successfully treated with medicines over-the-counter in most pharmacies, GPs or sexual health clinic.
